Last school year, students at the two Duluth middle schools followed the ‘Away for the Day’ policy with their cell phones. It meant the phones were in their lockers from the start to the end of the day.
Duluth Schools are considering expanding this to all K-12 students this coming year.
Assistant Superintendent Anthony Bonds said that teachers and staff at the middle schools found it to be overwhelmingly positive and benefited the mental health and socializing and learning of all students.
The district feels like expanding this policy will be beneficial.
They will provide more information as we get closer to the fall.
